Fishing in Opala River

According to the program, a representative of Polus-M meets the group at the airport in Elizovo upon arrival. There is only one way to reach the river - by helicopter, so next day the group takes a 40 minutes' helicopter flight. The route of the flight crosses South Kamchatka from east to west. On the way you can see some interesting nature sites of Kamchatka: Avachinskaya bay, Viluchensky, Gorely and Mutnovsky volcanoes. After landing - preparation of rafts, a visit to Verkhne-Opalskiye thermal springs and then - fishing! No motorboats are used for fishing, only rafting.
Opala river flows in the southern part of Kamchatka and brings its waters into the sea of Okhotsk. The length of the river is about 160 kilometers; catchment basin is about 1160 square kilometers; stream speed - 0.5-2 meters per second; width of the river is 50 to 200 meters. Water temperature in summer does not exceed 7-8°C. No populated localities on the banks. There is one not complicated rift. Rafting starts at Verkhne-Opalskiye thermal springs, which are situated in the upper flow of Left Opala river - one of the branches of Opala, then to the joint with Pravaya Opala and down to Nizhne-Opalskiye mineral springs. Rafting partly goes through the old caldera of Opala volcano, a few kilometers off its slopes. Places for fishing are chosen during rafting - it is possible to stop anywhere and start fishing. Good fishing, rich nature and tasty traditional meals will equal some possible inconveniences of field life. The few days on the river will fly fast, and during your flight back to Petropavlovsk you will see the river once again - no from above.
